UNDERDOG

The term "Underdog" refers to a person facing adversity or positioned in a state of inferiority, often subject to social or political injustice. It can also describe a competitor whose chances of success seem slim. However, the Underdog is not a passive victim of their circumstances. On the contrary, they leverage the fact that they are underestimated or overlooked, using it as an advantage to achieve what others deem impossible.

The UNDERDOG Project is centered around the creation of choreographic works by Alexis Jestin. Driven by a deep exploration of human and artistic experiences, his identity continually evolves with each project, adapting to new challenges. The project is built on the principles of collective struggle, mutual support, and turning our flaws and vulnerabilities into sources of strength. By doing so, we aim to forge a connection with our present time, society, and the environment around us.

It is essential to venture into spaces of discomfort, risk, the unknown, and the marginal. The goal is to question the obvious, deconstruct assumptions, listen to intuition, and imagine a better world. It is about breaking down and rebuilding, constantly re-imagining what is possible. This, in essence, forms the core of the UNDERDOG Project: playing with philosophical, sociological, and psychogeographical elements in order to dismantle established meanings and create something new.
